From the damage and destruction of land to produce goods whose production was reliant on enslavement to the development of Quinene, described by Winston Churchill as saving “more Englishmen’s lives, and minds, than all the doctors in the Empire.” The use of plants was a key factor in Empire and continues to shape lives today. This tour will draw on the Glasgow Museums Collection to explore this.
