This roundtable, featuring speakers from Scotland and South Africa (Oliwenhuis Museum, Bloemfontein), discusses works by South African printmaker, Lucky Sibiya. In 1975 Sibiya produced 15 woodcuts inspired by Welcome Msomi’s play, uMabatha, which retold Zulu history using Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Sibiya’s series, prints from which are found in collections in South Africa, as well as Argyll, Stirling and Fife, visualises the Zulu Macbeth story.
